Overview

Plant Manager - Crush & Refinery - Dawson, GA Exempt-Level. Reports to Director Operations. The Plant Manager is the site leader responsible for safety, regulatory compliance, operation, colleague development and leadership, and performance of the Golden Peanut Crush & Refinery site located in Dawson, GA. This position leads a team of colleagues in supervisory and operational roles and collaborates with peers at other Golden Peanut/ADM locations to deliver safe results.

The site operates 24/7/365, and this position has accountability to support the site across all shifts.

Responsibilities
  • As the site leader, participate in coaching others in programs including human safety, environmental standards, quality, and Performance Excellence.
  • Lead the operation of the plant to maintain personnel and process safety
  • Maintain an environment in which personal safety is the top priority
  • Ensure the team works safely and the department maintains compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Ensure the operation of the site is carried out with all regulatory permits, laws & regulations, and best practices
  • Align site goals with divisional goals and communicate direction and priorities to the site
  • Understand operations and coordinate plant operation to adhere to established product, environmental, safety, housekeeping and quality guidelines
  • Demonstrate ADM core values in decision making and actions
  • Collaborate with work groups across the organization to develop a strategic vision for the department and implement it through the department deployment plan
  • Take ultimate responsibility for overall site performance
  • Model the way of the Performance Excellence journey
  • Lead and coach the team to leverage continuous improvement tools to achieve department and plant KPIs
  • Actively participate in daily production meetings and drive deviations from KPIs and incidents to root cause
  • Demonstrate commitment to improving safety, processes, and efficiency by delivering the site deployment plan
  • Collaborate with Centers of Excellence to improve technology and reliability of operations
  • Is an Effective Communicator
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills in face-to-face and written communication
  • Interpret and ensure consistent application of organizational policies and procedures
  • Perform Colleague Performance Reviews and meet with colleagues regularly to review goals and development plans
  • Collaborate with HR to manage performance of site leadership
  • Take on additional roles and responsibilities to continually develop self and/or other teams
Qualifications
  • Hands-on and consistent physical plant presence as needed
  • Deep technical understanding of operations
  • Prior experience leading/supervising people
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent experience) and 10 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Demonstrated self-starter with ability to self-monitor with minimal oversight
  • Results-driven and able to support goals established by leadership
  • Ability to motivate direct reports and demonstrate leadership qualities to all plant personnel
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem-solving skills
  • Effective cost management
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft products
  • Ability to work in diverse environments and conditions, including extremes of temperature, noise, heights, dust, and the use of PPE
  • Ability to climb stairs, access ladders, catwalks, elevated platforms; ability to lift, sit, and stand for extended periods; eligibility for respirator use
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, or holidays as required
  • Experience in pulp and paper or cotton oilseed processing is beneficial but not required
