Utilities Supervisor Job Overview

The Utilities Supervisor is responsible for implementing, supervising daily operation and maintenance activities of utilities equipment at the site. This includes day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and support, preventive and corrective maintenance, shutdown scheduling and vendor management. The position supports reliability‑centered maintenance and TPM for process systems, including OEE and other maintenance metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The Supervisor oversees operations, maintenance and troubleshooting support while maintaining compliance with current manufacturing practices, environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines and local regulations through strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP’s in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility.

The Utilities Supervisor directs the day‑to‑day activities of Operations and Maintenance Technicians, drives results to support plant strategic imperatives, enforces company rules and regulations, promotes Takeda Core Values, coaches and mentors employees, prepares and presents technical reports, manages multiple priorities, and prioritizes responsibilities of self and direct reports. This is a night shift (6:00pm–6:30am) in a 2‑2‑3 work schedule configuration.

• Supervise, lead and coordinate utilities operation and maintenance shift crews.
• Operate and maintain the utilities throughout the facility during the shift.
• Organize and review daily Work Orders (WO) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) work.
• Maintain daily communications with planning, scheduling and manufacturing counterparts to ensure needs are met.
• Facilitate and verify appropriate training for all shift employees on cGMPs, job skills, safety, etc.
• Coordinate workflow and documentation of PMs and WOs efficiently.
• Review procedures and update them as necessary; ensure familiarity with plant and divisional SOPs.
• Ensure a safe work environment is maintained through adherence to safety guidelines, policies, GA state and federal EPA regulation and laws, and specific agency requirements such as OSHA.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date training file and meet all mandatory training requirements, including annual EHS training, GMP refresher training and any applicable training.
• Engage in ongoing performance dialogue with the Manager and complete mid‑year and year‑end reviews for self and direct reports.
• Demonstrate continuous progress in technical understanding and problem‑solving skills.
• Maintain a positive, professional, customer‑oriented attitude.
• Communicate concerns related to safe work practices, hostile work environment, sexual harassment or other misconduct to supervisor, manager or human resources.
• Analyze, propose and implement longer‑term solutions to existing and repeating problems.
• Inspect, monitor, assess and assure the facility and equipment remains cGMP compliant and audit‑ready.
• Order and maintain chemical inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned and collaborate with manufacturing, quality, EHS, engineering, vendor/contractors, security and other department supervisors and management.

• High school diploma or GED plus 6+ years of related experience or bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, sciences, engineering or related field with 3+ years of related experience.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lab techniques, theory, hands‑on sampling and testing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SCADA, process control software and other computer‑based applications.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to interface with personnel at all levels.
• Team‑oriented work style with strong problem‑solving, organizational and administrative skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing setting and prioritize responsibilities of self and direct reports.
• Analytical skills to interpret scientific and statistical data.
