At Daniel Defense, Only the Best Build the Best…

Daniel Defense engineers and manufactures the world’s finest weapon systems and accessories. Our mission of Honor God. Defend Freedom is accomplished by serving customers and providing top quality solutions to our military, law enforcement and civilians that are seeking premium firearms for home defense, hunting, and sport shooting.

The Director of Environmental, Health, Safety & Facilities Maintenance leads the strategy, systems, and culture that keep Daniel Defense's people safe and its operations compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental and workplace safety regulations, while also owning the facilities and maintenance function that keeps the plant running reliably. This role carries primary, hands-on responsibility for the company's EHS program — policy, incident prevention, regulatory reporting, and training across all manufacturing and facility operations — and serves as the company's primary point of contact for OSHA, EPA, DOT and related regulatory bodies.

In addition to EHS leadership, this role directs maintenance, reliability, and facilities operations — including TPM deployment, CMMS administration, preventive maintenance, and capital/facility planning — ensuring that safety and operational excellence are treated as inseparable priorities. Given Daniel Defense's status as a federally regulated defense manufacturer, this role also ensures EHS and facilities practices align with ITAR requirements and support the company's ISO 9001 quality management system.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health & Safety (Primary Focus)

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and management systems across all facilities
  • Lead compliance efforts related to OSHA, EPA, DOT, ANSI, NFPA, and applicable state environmental and safety regulations, including permitting, reporting, and audits
  • Ensure EHS policies, training, and documentation practices support ITAR compliance, including controlled access to technical data within EHS recordkeeping and safe handling of any export-controlled materials or processes
  • Maintain EHS-related documentation, procedures, and audit readiness in alignment with the company's ISO 9001 quality management system, including supporting internal and external audits
  • Partner with Operations leadership to identify and mitigate risk in manufacturing processes, machine operation, chemical handling, and hazardous materials storage
  • Own incident investigation processes, including root cause analysis, corrective action plans, and trend reporting to leadership
  • Build and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire onboarding and role-specific certifications
  • Manage workers' compensation case coordination in partnership with HR and Payroll
  • Maintain required environmental permits and ensure timely, accurate regulatory filings
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning, including fire safety, chemical spill response, and evacuation protocols
  • Track and report EHS KPIs (incident rates, TRIR, DART, near misses, training completion, audit findings) to executive leadership
  • Build a proactive safety culture consistent with Daniel Defense's mission and values, encouraging shared ownership of safety at every level
  • Supervise EHS staff and coordinate with Operations, Quality, Compliance, and Security teams on cross-functional initiatives

Facilities & Maintenance Oversight

  • Own the facilities and maintenance function end to end, providing director-level leadership over plant maintenance, reliability, and facilities operations
  • Lead Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) implementation and sustainment, and drive Lean manufacturing principles across the maintenance organization
  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through reliability engineering and data-driven maintenance
  • Own plant CMMS administration, asset hierarchy, work order processes, and reporting
  • Drive preventive maintenance compliance and implement PM kitting processes that improve…
