Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

SUMMARY
Absence of any related duties or functions in this document does not imply that incumbent may be exempt from assignments required to support production. The primary responsibility of this position is to be assigned to a specific area of the processing plant for Industrial Maintenance duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe employee will be assigned equipment that he/she is responsible for maintaining the preventative maintenance schedule assigned to the equipment by plant Maintenance Manager.
During operational hours of the processing plant the employee will perform demand maintenance repairs and adjustments in his assigned operations area.
The employee will be assigned tasks to be completed on a daily basis as designated by the maintenance supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client.
QUALIFICATIONS- Must have some m ath skills
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must be able to pass physical
- Must supply own personal hand tools
- Must be able to work 7 days a week
- Must have at least 2-3 years experience in industrial maintenance

TRAINING REQUIREMENT/METHODSAll employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties. Once employee completes this training they will be assigned to a Supervisor who will further orient the employee to the workplace, introduce him/her to employees and other supervision, demonstrate work assignment and explain ingress and egress procedures to and from work station. A training buddy may be assigned to new employees for a period to assist in further training and indoctrination.
Employee is required to attend a maintenance supplemental safety training class for required safety related work practices conducted by the Safety department as a new hire and review annually with supervisor. Employee will be required to review and sign off acknowledgment of all required PPE for safe work practices assigned to his scheduled tasks.
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIESThose responsible for training and indoctrination may include: personnel representative, safety director, supervisor, and lead workers as assigned.
METHOD OF TRACKING EMPLOYEE PROGRESSThe supervisor is accountable for tracking employee progress and performance.
EXIT TRAINING FOR MEASURING TRAINING EFFECTIVENESSA specific probationary period is assigned to all employees hired to evaluate the employee effectiveness and performance. At the end of this period the supervisor will evaluate the job performance of each new employee utilizing current forms and procedures in effect at that time. The employee will be rated and evaluated on essential work duties listed above as well as attendance, tardiness, interaction with co-workers and management, attitudes and work actions.
Unacceptable performance of duties, disciplinary actions will be documented on corrective action reports and appropriate personnel records. Absent any negative actions, the employee may be eligible for a wage increase according to wage and salary policies in effect at that time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places, extreme cold; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
