Plant Operator

Role Overview

Plant Operator – responsible for overseeing the daily operational function of the mining and mineral processing facilities at the Nahunta, GA location. The role reports to the Shift Supervisor and ensures peak plant performance across all processes and equipment.

• Operate and maintain mobile mining units, screeners, wet mill concentrators, attrition units, water treatment facilities, and associated process equipment 24/7.
• Monitor plant conditions through computer interfaces, record accurate product, process, and safety data, and maintain plant performance per the Mine Manager, Shift Supervisor, and Maintenance Coordinator.
• Conduct regular inspections, troubleshoot deviations, perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance, and support equipment reliability.
• Analyze sampling results and meter readings to communicate necessary operational changes to team members.
• Act as a safety leader: report all personal injuries and EHS incidents, assist in investigations, and champion continuous safety improvements.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure plant operations align with business goals and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist in maintenance planning, provide supplemental labor to operations and maintenance personnel, and manage other Plant Operators as directed.

• Ability to read and write in English.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Competency in interpreting detailed specifications, basic mathematics, and computer graphical user interfaces.
• Mechanical aptitude and sensory proficiency (vision, hearing, depth perception).
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Previous processing plant experience preferred but not required.

• Work 12‑hour rotating shifts and be able to use hands, fingers, and feet in coordinated operations.
• Frequently use ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, and ramps.
• Perform heavy manual labor, including moving equipment and supplies, shoveling sand, and lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Work in wet and humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
• Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods (4–6 hours).
