Forklift Operator Shipping

Job Summary

The Shipping Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation and management of industrial equipment to load, unload and move product and packaging from storage areas, machines, and loading docks. The primary function of the role is to support the supply chain by loading trucks for all outgoing product and accurately counting and documenting shipments.

• Operate forklift or other hand truck activities to stage, count, sort, wrap finished product and move shipments of product and packaging material.
• Examine shipment contents and compare with records to verify accuracy and quality of shipment, placing the shipment on the designated truck for delivery to the customer.
• Communicate frequently with Shipping Supervisor, reporting quality issues, damage, or shortages of product or packaging.
• Maintain a clean work area; remove empty and damaged pallets, wood, and plastic.
• Conduct daily inspections of assigned forklift or other material handling equipment and report damages or mechanical issues to authorized personnel.
• Comply with SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety, Health and Safety, and company policies and procedures, ensuring standards consistently meet expectations.

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two (2) years’ forklift experience required;
  Forklift Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety preferred.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to adhere to all security and safety procedures; excellent judgment and driving skills.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrating keen attention to detail and task‑related accuracy, and consistent follow‑through.
• Ability to remain focused for extended periods and to react quickly in emergency situations.
• Proficient in English communication; oral, written and reading.
• Steel‑toed shoes are required.

• Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; flexibility required.
• This job operates in a refrigerated warehouse (45‑55°F); the noise level can be loud due to packaging machinery and forklift operation.
• Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands and arms.
• Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
