Location: Nahunta

Chemours is seeking a Plant Operator to join our growing Mission Mining team in Nahunta, GA
. The Plant Operator oversees the operational function for mining and mineral processing facilities operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, ensuring peak plant performance through computer interface, regular inspections, and light maintenance. The role involves monitoring and maintaining mobile mining units, screeners, wetmill concentrator, attritioner, water treatment facilities, and associated process equipment, as well as communicating sampling results and operational changes to the team.

Activities
  • Ensure all work is performed within company, state, and federal regulations, standards, statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and promote opportunities to improve mine safety performance, acting as a safety leader.
  • Maintain plant operation within production criteria as defined by Standard Operating Procedures and record accurate product, process, and safety data.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process‑related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliability.
  • Apply process knowledge to improve plant performance and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Optimize plant performance by monitoring process equipment and conditions using information systems (levels, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates).
  • Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements, and preventive maintenance.
  • Clean and maintain spirals, sumps, distributors, and other components to maintain overall plant performance.
Goals For the Role
  • Act as a safety leader to keep safety a top priority in all tasks.
  • Collaborate with Company Environmental, Health and Safety personnel to target zero incidents and continuous improvement of mine site EHS performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in plant operations, encouraging initiatives that reduce safety risk and increase productivity and efficiency.
Responsibilities
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and initiative.
  • Report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with safety and environmental investigations.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all assigned areas.
  • Align operational activities and process performance with plant and business goals.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by Mining Superintendent, Shift Supervisor, and Engineering & Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Support overall mining and mineral processing needs, providing supplemental labor to operations and maintenance personnel to meet mine goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed specifications, including computer graphical user interface and basic math, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong teamwork and people skills.
  • Previous processing plant experience preferred but not required.
  • Candidate must be able to perform all duties listed with or without accommodation.
  • Immigration sponsorship (e.g., H1‑B visa, F‑1 OPT, TN visa) is not currently available for this position.
Physical Requirements
  • Must work 12‑hour rotating shifts.
  • Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate and maintain plant equipment.
  • Requires specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, ramps, and similar equipment.
  • Perform heavy manual labor when needed such as moving equipment and supplies, shoveling sand.
  • Stand or sit for extended periods (4–6 hours).
  • Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Work near operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment in wet or humid conditions with vibrations.
  • Wear personal protective equipment such as hearing protectors and respirators as necessary.
