Location: Statham

Job Overview

Benchmark located in Statham, GA, is seeking a Lead CNC Machinist to produce high‑precision parts and support our machine shop operations. The role requires strong CNC expertise, team leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support, training, and assistance to keep CNC equipment (lathes, mills, laser, saws, routers) running
  • Review new engineering releases and estimate run time and equipment selection
  • Troubleshoot lathe, mill, and other equipment; coordinate outside maintenance as needed
  • Oversee material inventory, scrap, and ensure timely material cut and delivery
  • Update status on job orders and customer orders as requested
  • Ensure secondary work is completed on time
  • Maintain tool crib and ensure operators have correct job order priorities
  • Communicate with Manufacturing Manager on resource and tooling needs
  • Assist in distribution of quality‑checked parts to Weld Team
  • Review QC table for internal rework daily
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience or completion of a 1 or 2‑year Tool Technology or related program
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading teams
  • Familiarity with CNC setup, programming and running VMC machines, scales, calipers, micrometers and other measurement tools
  • Familiarity with manual machining operations including mills, lathes and saws
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprint drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to stay organized and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, be punctual, and dependable
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
  • Ability to perform basic math (standard and metric), including converting between fractions and decimals
  • All other duties as assigned
