The Canning Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimizing all maintenance activities within the canning operations area. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports production efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety, food safety, and quality. The supervisor drives continuous improvement initiatives, develops team capability, and partners cross-functionally to achieve operational excellence.

Leadership & Team Management- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to ensure high performance and engagement
- Schedule and allocate resources to meet production and maintenance priorities
- Conduct performance evaluations, skills assessments, and training plans
- Foster a safety‑first culture and ensure accountability at all levels
- Lead shift handoffs and daily maintenance briefings
- Oversee troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance (PM) of canning and processing equipment
- Ensure timely response to breakdowns to minimize production downtime
- Drive execution of predictive and preventive maintenance programs
- Monitor equipment performance and identify chronic failure points
- Manage work order systems (CMMS) and ensure accurate documentation
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, TPM, OEE improvement)
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities related to maintenance and utilities
- Improve equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency metrics
- Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, plant safety standards, and LOTO procedures
- Enforce all food safety (SQF/BRC/HACCP), GMP, and sanitation requirements
- Participate in audits and ensure audit readiness at all times
- Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions
- Partner closely with Production, Quality, Sanitation, and Engineering teams
- Communicate maintenance priorities, risks, and status updates to leadership
- Support production scheduling by aligning maintenance activities with operational needs
- (In case of absence of key personnel, the job will be filled by a trained employee)
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate degree preferred - 2+ years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience in food manufacturing, preferably canning or further processing
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
- Experience with high-speed canning or packaging equipment
- Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and industrial controls
- Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo)
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or TPM
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and moving equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- May require off‑shift support, weekends, or on‑call availability
