Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Saw Operator to join our team. The Saw Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining saw machinery to cut steel and other materials to specified dimensions, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency in alignment with production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust, and operate saws to cut steel components and materials as specified in work orders, blueprints, or job tickets.
  • Load and unload steel materials onto the saw and handle cut parts with care to avoid damage or defects.
  • Accurately measure materials and inspect cut pieces to ensure they meet specified dimensions and tolerances, using tools like calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
  • Maintain high-quality standards by conducting regular inspections of finished pieces, making adjustments to machinery as needed to correct errors.
  • Perform routine maintenance on saw machinery, including cleaning, blade changes, and minor repairs, to ensure continuous operation and reduce downtime.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a clean and organized work area.
  • Record material usage, completed parts, and machine performance information accurately for inventory and production tracking purposes.
  • Work closely with production supervisors and team members to ensure timely completion of orders and assist in other areas of production as needed.

Requirements Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating saws or similar machinery in a manufacturing or metalworking environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with steel materials and their properties, as well as the use of measuring tools and basic blueprint reading.
  • Ability to set up and adjust saws for precise cutting, troubleshoot machinery issues, and make minor adjustments to meet production specifications.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.), and stand for extended periods.
  • High attention to accuracy and quality in all cutting tasks.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
