Forge Production Trainee (Heat Treat) - WEEKEND SHIFT

Full Time Midway, GA, US

MUST be able to work either of the weekend shifts:

Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6AM - 6PM

Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6PM - 6AM

Starting wage of $21/hour. Pay increase upon receiving level 1 qualifications (within 3 ½ - 6 months depending on candidate training). Candidates will be subject to a 90-day probationary and training period.

Job Summary

Heat Treat Operators will work with high temperature gas furnaces to uniformly heat parts to set temperatures, duration, and quenching process to manufacture parts with conforming grain structures. In this position, Heat Treat Operators will work in a mix of climate-controlled environments and non-climate-controlled environments to produce production parts. This role will also be required to document non-conformities in the manufacturing process as well as maintain an organized environment through daily 6S/TPM actions.

This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Review safety - any incidents that may have occurred, any new issues or hazards-Safety
  • Review quality concerns and incidents that occurred on previous shift-Quality
  • Sets furnaces to proper temperatures conforming to the prescribed temperature requirements
  • Monitor furnaces while parts are being loaded to ensure monitoring devices are not damaged.
  • Wear all required PPE during loading/unloading operations and while on the production floor.
  • Perform hardness checks of completed product after the heat treatment process is completed.
  • Use a variety of lifting devices and operate mobile equipment to move parts on and off pallets.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and follow all company procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area while also utilizing daily checklists to document work completed.
  • Check all supplies levels and notify Team Lead/Supervisor through email communication.
  • Complete all required daily checklists and production related documentation accurately and consistently.
  • Ability to operate computer/PLC programs that move heavy equipment.
  • Support Heat Treatment process in both Conventional Heat Treat and Isothermal Heat Treat.
  • Ensure work centers have required tools, documents, programs and physical parts to keep machines running.
  • Report any equipment issues to Team Lead/Supervisor.
  • Inspect and restore the work area to acceptable 6S status and perform end of shift audit
  • Demonstrate good judgment, decision making and team building skills to support a positive work environment.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Nickel and titanium manufacturing facility. Exposure to: moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration; loud noise level

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Tropos, QPulse and Microsoft Office
  • 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with Heat Treatment or Forging background
