The Production Manager/Assistant Rendering Plant Manager oversees day-to-day production activities for all assigned shifts in the rendering department. This role leads supervisors and production teams to meet safety, food safety, quality, yield, and applicable regulatory and customer standards. The Production Manager/Assistant Rendering Plant Manager drives continuous improvement, supports cost control, and partners with Food Safety, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure the company’s success.

Qualifications

1.Provide leadership to supervisors and production teams through training, coaching, feedback, performance management, and clear communication of priorities and expectations.

c.Be available to support employees outside of normal business hours as needed.

2.Ensure production supervisors have the tools, materials, staffing, and support needed to perform their jobs effectively, including workforce planning, cross-training, and shift coverage.

3.Enforce all company safety rules, policies, GMPs, SOPs, food safety, sanitation, and cleaning requirements; coach supervisors on compliance and address nonconformances promptly.

4.Monitor production performance and daily operations to ensure schedules are met, downtime and quality issues are addressed, and corrective actions and work orders are initiated and tracked as needed.

a.Coordinate with Maintenance and Production to resolve issues and support efficient operations.

b.Review daily production paperwork for accuracy, completion, and required signatures.

5.Develop, implement, and enforce proper startup, shutdown, operating, and cleaning procedures for plant equipment and production areas.

a.Ensure procedures are consistently followed during routine operations and shift changeovers.

b.Schedule and oversee weekly cleaning of rendering plant areas and equipment, along with periodic cleaning of designated equipment based on operational needs and established schedules.

6.Drive continuous improvement by maintaining an openness to change, identifying issues, developing practical solutions, and leading corrective actions that improve safety, efficiency, quality, and overall plant performance.

7.Participate in production, quality, and safety meetings to communicate expectations, support alignment across departments, and promote operational success.

8.Assist the Rendering Plant Manager with preparation and management of the annual capital and major expense budget.
