Overview

Georgia 4-H Ameri Corps is a program of Georgia 4-H within the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Cooperative Extension. The Ameri Corps program supports youth development in 32 counties in Georgia with focus areas including agricultural and environmental issues, agriculture awareness, leadership, communication skills, foods and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship. ACMs provide research-based youth development programming through hands-on learning experiences and are funded to support the program mission.

ACMs serve as part of a team of 26 half-time and 7 full Ameri Corps State members throughout Georgia. ACMs are required to participate in a two-day New Service Year Orientation (annual) plus additional trainings and monthly webinars. ACMs participate in local, district, and state program activities and events.

• Provide direct services to youth in 4-H programming, including in-school educational club meetings, preparation for 4-H Project Achievement, attendance at summer camp, and delivery of community service projects.
• Collect and track data related to performance measures (in-school clubs, 4-H Project Achievement, volunteer recruitment, and volunteer hours) including survey administration and data entry. Track outputs (numbers served) and outcomes (knowledge, confidence, and public speaking skills).
• Support the volunteer program through recruitment, screening, training, and engagement. May assist with coordinating the county volunteer registration database.
• This is a direct service position that requires transport of youth and some night and weekend hours.
