Community Outreach Advisor

This position is located in our Leesburg, GA regional office. Woodmen Life is looking to hire a Community Outreach Advisor to join our team! The Community Outreach Advisor guides implementation for all community outreach and public relations programs, activities and initiatives to grow and retain members in a specific Sales region. These programs are designed to enhance Woodmen Life's recognition and support a strong and growing membership in the Sales region.

Travel (% of work period):
Approximately 25%, including 5% overnights

We are looking for someone to:

  • Identify opportunities that provide sales leads and drive membership growth in accordance with our shared commitment to family, community, and country.
  • Seek out and develop relationships with community organizations and key influencers to increase brand awareness.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of Fraternal's strategy/objectives and Woodmen Life's brand strategy to create compelling narratives that are credible, authentic, and relevant to members, internal and external customers, and prospects.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for regional media inquiries, building and maintaining strong relationships with local and regional journalists.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, press conferences, and outreach initiatives that support organizational goals and increase public visibility. Manage logistics including venue selection, vendor coordination, contract negotiation, budgets, timelines, and on-site event support.
  • Make formal presentations as needed to small and large audiences and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain required reporting structures using Woodmen Life guidelines, including financial, chapter activity, and program reporting.
  • Liaise with financial institutions and state and local government agencies under direction of management to represent the interests of chapters and Woodmen Life.
  • Identify and develop local volunteer leaders to assist with carrying out Woodmen Life's mission and values.
  • Serve as a resource to guide chapters on best practices and stewardship of funds, and assist in strategic budget planning. Provide expertise and valuable feedback to management teams as a team member and/or team leader for an effective outreach program.
  • Align volunteer and Sales Force training with current and new business initiatives and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of training curriculum to address business needs.
  • Execute national program and member extras training to regional members and Sales Representatives.
  • Support regional initiatives in partnership with the Regional Director's strategic vision and plan, including Sales team training.
  • Report monthly expenditures, mileage and tracking to comply with budget expectations.
  • Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality in accordance with the expectations established by your supervisor and Woodmen Life policy.
  • Abide by all company security policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

We need someone who has:

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work an irregular job schedule, including nights and weekends, with minimal overnight travel when required
  • Demonstrated commitment to philanthropy and community betterment
  • Proficient in managing public relations needs
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to delegate effectively
  • Sound judgment and critical thinking ability
  • Proven ability to establish rapport and credibility quickly and effectively
  • Demonstrated budget management skills
  • Adaptable attitude, a self-starter and creative
  • Thrives in a goal centric environment and requires little regular supervision
  • Cloud-based workflow management system experience strongly preferred
  • Strong social media skills preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot and other generative A.I. tools)
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organization with all stakeholders and to foster positive working relationships
  • The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service
