PositionOptim Medical Center Screven is seeking a full time LPN/7pm-7am for the Sylvania, GA location.
Sign On Bonus$8K Sign on bonus with 2-year contract and eligible for extra shift differential.
General Summary Of DutiesProvides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Communicates with physicians and team members about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomology.
Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
Reports to Nurse Manager.
Education, Training and ExperienceGraduate of an accredited LPN program. Current LPN licensure in the State of Georgia. Current BLS certification. Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year work experience or completion of accredited LPN program. Successful completion of arrhythmia course.
Language SkillsAbility to read and communicate effectively in English.
SkillsBasic computer knowledge. Basic clinical nursing skills.
Supervision ExercisedNursing Assistants.
Typical Physical DemandsMust be able to lift 50lbs. Lengthy periods of sitting and standing. Moving equipment, assisting with positioning and movement of patients, carry and lift equipment and instruments, exposure to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Frequent standing walking or other means of mobility for extended periods of time.
Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.
- Provides direct patient care under supervision of a RN, evaluates outcomes, consults with other healthcare team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients, under the direction of an RN, and reassessments as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
- Ability to adequately assess, reassess and treat pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Obtains EKG’s and demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias
- Able to ventilate a patient with mask/ambu bag when necessary.
- Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
- Will administer medications via all routes (IM, Subcu, IV, PO, Rectally, Topically, Intradermally and Inhalation).
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
- Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in the formation of the plan of care.
