Job Summary

As a Nurse Extern at Mission Hospital, you will support the nursing team, gaining hands‑on experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You will deliver safe, compassionate care and build the skills needed for more advanced responsibilities.

• Provide essential care for patients, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Perform basic nursing procedures such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other tasks as you gain experience.
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and keeping an organized environment.
• Engage in learning opportunities and collaborate with supervisor or preceptor to build a personal career development plan.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
• Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in nursing, or enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
