The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model and guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model. RN competencies are derived from these models and require knowledge of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, Scope of Practice and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

The RN is expected to uphold patient voice, system policies and support service excellence goals.

• Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and critical thinking to provide individualized care.
• Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care respectful of cultural diversity and tailored to population characteristics (age, gender, disease, etc.).
• Partner with patients and significant others through appropriate methods (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time teaching, planned patient teaching), keeping patient goals central to the care plan.
• Practice using current clinical practice standards.

• Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and support recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and research utilization, leading activities and supporting shared governance at all system levels.

• Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education specific to the population.
• Serve as preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and multidisciplinary staff or students to build a qualified workforce and healthy work environment.

• Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research and performance improvement; participate in value‑analysis activities for patient‑care products.
• Uphold all health‑care system policies, procedures and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, accreditation requirements and standards (e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals, Wellstar Safety Absolutes).
• Collect data, pose relevant clinical questions, consult experts and use appropriate resources to address practice inquiries.

• Registered nurse licensure in the State of Georgia.
• Knowledge and implementation of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, Scope of Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary clinical setting, with demonstrated ability to apply evidence‑based practice.
