Job SummaryThe RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. The RN operates within a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported by Wellstar’s Shared Governance Model. Practice is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice.
RN competencies are derived from these models and reflect the Wellstar Values. All RN Clinical Nurses are required to be licensed and to uphold the standards of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
- Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
- Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytic/critical thinking to individualize care.
- Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care adapted to cultural diversity and population characteristics.
- Partners with patients and significant others to set goals and maintain focus on the patient’s outcomes.
- Practices using current clinical standards and supports documentation of safe, quality care.
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care and promotes a respectful, inclusive environment.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participates in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all levels.
- Professional Development and Initiative
- Completes all required professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
- Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff to build a qualified workforce.
- Evidence‑Based Practice and Research
- Promotes evidence‑based practice and nursing research, participating in value analysis and clinical decision‑making.
- Upholds all system policies and clinical competencies, including TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar safety absolutes.
- Participates in data collection, poses clinical questions, consults experts, and uses evidence to address practice questions.
- Resources and Support
- Plans patient care across the continuum during direct patient care.
- Collaborates in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
- Supports efficient use of human and material resources and performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse)
- Bachelor’s Nursing (Preferred)
- RN – Regular Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – Multi‑state Compact
- BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Required Minimum ExperienceMinimum 2 years direct patient care nursing experience.
Required Minimum Skills- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Optimization of technology to support clinical care and basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies decisively and respectfully.
- Excellent time management and strong critical‑thinking skills, with a focus on evidence‑based practice.
