Position: EHS Specialist 1

We are seeking an EHS 1 level professional to join our EHS team. We are seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist 1 to support workplace safety programs with a primary focus on conducting audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.

This role is responsible for identifying hazards, evaluating OSHA compliance, and supporting corrective actions to improve site safety performance. The specialist will maintain a strong field presence, perform routine and non-routine inspections, support emergency preparedness (including first aid/AED), and assist with industrial hygiene activities such as air sampling. Must be U.S. Persons.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform daily and weekly safety inspections and audits throughout the facility
  • Identify unsafe conditions and report hazards with recommended fixes
  • Follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed on time
  • Conduct floor-level observations to ensure employees are following safety procedures
  • Support OSHA compliance programs (PPE, Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, etc.) through routine checks
  • Assist with incident investigations by gathering information and documenting findings
  • Help track and close out corrective actions from incidents and inspections
  • Perform or assist with air sampling and basic industrial hygiene monitoring as assigned
  • Check and maintain first aid kits and AED equipment to ensure readiness
  • Support emergency drills and response activities
  • Deliver or assist with safety training and toolbox talks
  • Maintain accurate inspection logs, audit reports, and safety records
  • Work closely with supervisors and employees to promote safe work practices
  • Perform other safety-related tasks as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to learn and apply safety procedures in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to conduct routine safety inspections and identify obvious hazards
  • Strong attention to detail when completing checklists, audits, and reports
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with employees and supervisors
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently in a hands‑on role
  • Willingness to learn safety programs such as PPE, Lockout/Tagout, and Hazard Communication
  • Basic understanding (or willingness to learn) air sampling and industrial hygiene tasks
  • Ability to document findings clearly and track issues to completion
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook or similar)
  • Ability to spend significant time walking, standing, and working on the production floor
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations and support first aid/AED readiness
Required
  • Associate's Degree or 1-2 years of experience in safety, EHS, or manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Exposure to safety inspections, audits, or hazard identification
  • Ability to work hands‑on, production floor
Manufacturing/Non‑Sedentary Requirements
  • Auditing/Assessments 66%+ of the workday
  • Perform frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing during inspections
  • Work around active machinery and production processes
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally (33%-66% of the time)
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel‑toe footwear
  • Work in environments with potential exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures

Candidates selected for this position will be required to complete a skills assessment as part of the hiring process to evaluate job-related competencies.
