Position Summary
The Quality Manager owns product quality strategy and customer satisfaction across GCC operations, driving consistent product performance and continuous improvement.
This position coordinates mining, production, and quality analysis through mine planning, in-process statistical analysis, and finished product conformance. The role partners with Geology, Corporate QMS, Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and other functions to optimize product quality.
This role applies technical expertise to improve tools, methods, and work processes; resolve complex cross-functional issues; and influence adoption of improved practices.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise Quality personnel.
- Specify, acquire, and maintain testing equipment.
- Manage lab purchasing and supply inventory.
- Resolve assigned customer complaints within 30 days.
- Serve as liaison between plants and customers on quality issues.
- Maintain plant SOPs and annual review cadence.
- Recommend quality system improvements.
- Maintain QMS effectiveness and standardization.
- Communicate quality objectives, trends, and results.
- Support ISO 9001 certification and surveillance audits.
- Plan and participate in internal and customer.
- Develop QC personnel for coverage and succession.
- Coordinate raw material and specification approvals with Technology.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Monitor QC test accuracy and report timely results to Operations.
- Lead quality meetings and communicate trends, raw material changes, contamination, and customer feedback.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve customer issues and support product trials.
- Promote SPC use and train personnel to respond to process changes.
- Monitor raw material shifts and notify plant management.
- Develop employee capability through training, coaching, and cross-training.
- Maintain product specifications and customer information in the central database.
- Ensure required ISO training is completed.
- Maintain accessibility and open communication with plant employees.
- Promote 5S and housekeeping in QC labs.
- Participate in quality initiatives across Huber facilities.
- Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and employees at all levels.
- Perform other assigned accountabilities.
- Delivering products that meet customer needs while operating within budgetary constraints.
- Responding to customer concerns and complaints promptly, professionally, and effectively.
- Developing capable, motivated QC staff.
- Driving continuous QMS improvement.
- Mitigating interruptions in QC support for Operations.
- 5-10 years of mineral processing or light manufacturing experience.
- Technical training in chemistry, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
- Associate or bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of feedstock, processing, packaging, shipping, and customer service.
- Knowledge of plant operations and mineral processing.
- Experience with laboratory testing equipment.
- Knowledge of customer preferences and expectations.
