Data Scientist
Job Title
Develop new weather forecasting applications using state-of-the-art artificial intelligence techniques. The developments will primarily focus on high-resolution regional forecasting over Europe, but may also extend to overseas regions or global forecasting. The work will involve the most innovative aspects of deep learning; staying updated on these techniques will be essential. You will collaborate with other Météo-France services, scientists, and industry professionals in mathematics and computer science, as well as European partners.
You will participate in international institutional or scientific meetings, contribute to the setup and management of national or European projects, and publish and present results in scientific journals and conferences.
You will also be responsible for the following missions: (1) creating high-quality learning databases, either based on Météo-France operational forecasting models, dedicated simulations, reanalyses, or observations; (2) participating in the development and evaluation of a regional deterministic and ensemble forecasting emulator within the Anemoi software; (3) contributing to the evolution of the software environment for research and operationalization of AI forecasting applications;
(4) participating in the operationalization of future AI weather forecasting applications.
You may also:
- develop, manage, or contribute to research projects, and value research work through scientific publications and presentations;
- supervise interns, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, or research engineers F/H;
- contribute to training, communication, expertise, and scientific popularization activities.
You are strongly encouraged to hold or prepare a Ph.D. and to be evaluated by the research evaluation committee.
Required ProfileA doctoral-level education is desired along with confirmed experience in a similar position.
