Position Title
Security/Guest Service
FLSA Status and CompensationPart time; $16 per hour
Department and ReportingSecurity. Report to:
Operations Manager or Manager on duty.
Patrol the Convention Center to provide general safety of the public and the company’s property and personnel via foot patrol or central office monitoring.
Qualifications- Previous 3‑6 months experience as a security guard or similar position required.
- Must maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Flexibility to work required nights, afternoons, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Ability to physically perform the duties required of this position.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen to and follow instructions.
- Ability to work and get along with others.
- Must have a professional attitude, appearance, and personality.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Clear police record.
- Pass background check‑credit.
- Patrol all areas of the center, both interior and exterior, keeping alert for disturbances, safety deficiencies, fire, theft of company/client‑owned equipment, personal injuries and infractions of policies to ensure a safe and secure environment for visitors and employees.
- Aid customers and visitors by answering questions and offering assistance in emergencies.
- Know, understand, and enforce company rules and regulations.
- Report any suspicious or unusual occurrences or deficiencies to supervisor or department head.
- Write concise, clear, and complete reports on all accidents and incidents involving guests and employees.
- Secure the building after hours and maintain patrol to ensure safety of building and property.
- Utilize all equipment in the control center including cameras, fire alarm system, alarm monitoring equipment, lighting, and computer equipment.
- Act as informational resource for attendees with directions, island activities, etc.
- Sound alarm and call police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Coordinator or other Department Heads.
- Perform cash handling and/or cashiering functions based on demand.
Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (up to 80% of this position is walking) occasionally in inclement weather. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Must adapt to changes in work environment, managing competing demands and frequent changes.
