Position: SECURITY ASSISTANT (Office Automation) with Security Clearance
Location: Fort Gordon

Duties
* As security assistant, incumbent is responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
* Operates and performs research queries on the Joint Personnel Adjudication System, (JPAS), Defense Information Security System, and Personnel investigative Portal (PIPS).
* Controls, prepares, issues identification badges, cards, and passes that allow access of civilian, military, contractor personnel, and visitors to DDEAMC, and at the discretion of the employee or higher graded staff.
* Sets up and maintains visitor control roster and badges accountability log, which is subject to quarterly and annual reviews and inventories.
* Operates and maintains various items of access control equipment and automated systems to include computer equipment used in the identification and registration process.

* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
* This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
* All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
* This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
* This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
* This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
* This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

* This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes experience with personnel security regulations, forms, and procedures. Issuing and controlling of security badges, operating and maintaining various items of access equipment and automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education :
Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
