Heavy Equipment Operator (Grading Crew)
Job DescriptionReeves Construction Company is currently seeking an individual for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator based in Vienna, GA
. The successful candidate will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- Adhere to Reeves Construction Company safety programs to ensure a safe work environment
- Monitor all steps of the operation to ensure Standard Quality and Operating Practices and guidelines are being followed
- Operate a Bulldozer, Excavator, Loader, or Motor Grader
- Spread dirt in fill areas, finish dress to plan specifications, load material from stockpiles or excavations, finish grade with a loader, experience with material handling
- Utilize GPS machine control knowledge
- Backfill trenches/excavations
- Apply caution when digging around underground utilities and overhead wires
- Assist with the maintenance and normal operating adjustment of the equipment
- Willingness to work nights and weekends
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Strong knowledge of plans and specifications, OSHA Trenching Requirements, and Safety Protocol
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to work in a variety of locations; work locations may change daily
- Expected hours will vary by job, location, and season; night shift may be required
- Six months to one year of experience operating the equipment
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license
- Must have adequate transportation to work
- Must adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times
- Punctuality, consistent attendance, and self‑direction are essential for success

Employees must have 20/40 vision either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or with an audio device.

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
