Position: MILLWRIGHT II - GA - THOMPSON HARDWOODS INC
Location: Hazlehurst

Position Summary:

The Millwright II is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical systems within the sawmill and related operations. This mid-level role requires strong mechanical skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to safety and operational efficiency. Millwright II plays a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production machinery

Diagnosing equipment malfunctions and perform timely, effective repairs

Perform preventative maintenance according to schedules and operational needs

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals

Align, level, and calibrate machinery and equipment

Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and installations

Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Follow all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations

Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment performance

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred3+ years of experience as a millwright or industrial maintenance technician

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics

Welding and fabrication experience preferred

Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics

Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed

Work Environment:

Industrial sawmill setting with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy equipment

Requires standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working in confined or elevated spaces
