Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance candidate who has good knowledge of related fields and strong communication skills. This role is responsible for the day‑to‑day management of maintenance mechanics in the areas of manufacturing equipment, facility, and utility maintenance and repair. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures compliance with all safety, GMP, and food safety policies and procedures, along with all federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced mechanical repairs, including plumbing, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and farm equipment maintenance.
  • Supervise, develop, and motivate maintenance mechanics in processing, facility, and utility equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Aggressively manage all breakdown maintenance requirements to successful conclusions.
  • Schedule and direct day‑to‑day activities of the maintenance mechanics through the department’s work order system to achieve safe, timely, and satisfactory work.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of manufacturing equipment functionality and schedule necessary repairs or suggest changes to improve plant operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the department’s preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Oversee work in progress by outside contractors to determine adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Track, measure, and document the performance of the maintenance mechanics on an individual basis.
  • Check, install, and repair equipment including chain feed systems, line auger feed systems, Rotem controllers, watering systems, ventilation systems, generators, wells, and septic systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance on buildings, greasing equipment, installing cat6 wiring and security cameras, and cleaning floor drains.
  • Deliver parts to different locations, pick up supplies from vendors, attend morning meetings, and engage in safety videos and training.
  • Sweep work area, empty trash cans, conduct safety checks of emergency lighting, GFI outlets, and fire extinguishers, and organize stockroom inventory.
Qualifications
  • Proficient knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, flooring, masonry, electrical, welding, roofing, machinery, mechanics, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
  • Ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Strong understanding of lawn mowers, tractors, backhoes, skid steers, and loaders.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow task‑specific instructions, including Lock‑out/Tag‑out procedures.
  • Own basic tool set including socket, wrenches, skill saw, grinder, drill, Sawzall, volt meter, level, and tape measure.
  • Team player with strong verbal skills and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements
  • Expected to walk/stand for extended periods.
  • Use measuring tools and measure precisely for cutting with power and/or hand tools.
  • Move safely over uneven terrain, such as rough ground and floors with shavings.
  • Frequently carry/lift objects and equipment weighing up to 40 lbs., including lumber and metal building materials.
  • Perform repetitive tasks that require hand/wrist dexterity.
  • Work from aerial lift with fall restraint system at around 20 ft.
  • Safely pick up materials stored at ground level.
  • Apply 50 lbs. of force to push carts.
  • Frequently kneel/squat or squat at floor level or on knees.
  • Use both fixed and portable ladders (step and/or extension ladders).
  • Utilize a variety of tools including drills, hammers, saws, metal grinders, blowtorches, and welders.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment for identified tasks (ear muffs, ear plugs, safety glasses, welding helmets, work gloves, work boots, harness, etc.).
  • Drive maintenance van to and from work sites.
Work Conditions
  • Exposed at times to airborne particles such as dust and dander; proper PPE hearing protection will be provided.
  • Exposed to noise levels sometimes exceeding the 85‑dBA action level set by OSHA.
  • Exposed to chemicals such as detergents and disinfectants during tasks.
  • May be exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures (snow, sleet, ice).
  • Exposed to farm‑related smells and foul odors.
