Senior Technician, Aircraft Maintenance
The Senior Technician, Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for performing complex aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of the fleet. This role requires advanced technical expertise in aircraft systems, adherence to regulatory standards, and the ability to mentor junior technicians. The Senior Aircraft Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with FAA and industry regulations.
Job ResponsibilitiesAircraft Maintenance & Repair
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and other complex aircraft systems.
- Conduct thorough inspections, functional tests, and component replacements as needed.
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer and regulatory specifications, including proper documentation and log entries.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to all aviation maintenance safety protocols, including FAA Part 91 regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance programs to maintain high safety standards.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and manuals to identify and resolve aircraft system malfunctions.
- Collaborate with engineers and manufacturers to resolve technical issues and improve maintenance practices.
- Evaluate recurring issues and implement corrective measures to reduce maintenance downtime.
Training & Leadership Support
- Mentor junior aircraft technicians, providing training on procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on aircraft systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Assist in developing maintenance training programs and procedural improvements.
Process Improvement & Efficiency
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures, tools, and workflows.
- Participate in Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and optimize efficiency.
Experience:
- 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, with a focus on troubleshooting and complex repairs.
- Previous experience working in MRO, airline, charter, or corporate aviation environments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced understanding of engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and avionics
- Strong understanding of fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft systems (as applicable).
- Deep understanding of FAA or relevant aviation authority rules and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to complex diagnose issues, identifying faults in systems and components, and implement efficient solutions

- None. This is an individual contributor role
Education
- Associate's degree in Aircraft Maintenance
- Combination of experience and education may be substituted for degree
- Certifications
Required:
FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License (required). - Inspection Authorization (IA), OEM-specific training and endorsements (e.g., Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream) are a plus.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to typical risks of injury in an aviation (e.g. hanger, outside, office) environment.
- Duties include a typical mechanic setting including extensive hands on work, including sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling or standing.
