Millwright Level 2

Job Summary

West Fraser is a diversified North American wood products company producing southern yellow pine lumber and wood chips across the Southern US and Western Canada, and the world’s largest producer of oriented strand board (OSB). This position is for a Level 2 Millwright who will perform various tasks related to the safe and efficient application of technical skills to maintain industrial machinery, conveyors, and mechanical systems associated with the manufacturing of forestry products.

Minimum five years of experience on industrial equipment in a production setting is required.

Travel required:

Yes (minimal training sessions)

• Repair and maintain industrial equipment including conveying systems and major machine centers such as debarkers, canters, gang saws, and edgers.
• Read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
• Work safely under high-pressure situations as a self‑starter.
• Apply basic knowledge of lineups of pumps, sheaves, sprockets, and machine centers.
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Adjust tension on nuts and bolts or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb tools.
• Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools.
• Lay out mounting holes and drill holes with a power drill as required.
• Replace defective parts of a machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
• Level bed‑plate and establish a center line using straightedge, levels, and transit.
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly units using hand tools and power tools.

• Cutting torch experience (Oxygen/Acetylene).
• Welding experience (GMAW and SMAW).
• Safety oriented and compliant with ZES.
• Willingness to work overtime and to be on‑call to support operations.
• Five years of Millwright experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment or an Associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance.
• Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Maintenance Assessment score of at least 80 to be considered.
