Industrial Electrician

Georgia-Pacific – Electrician – Madison, GA Plywood Facility

Georgia‑Pacific is now hiring an Electrician for our Madison, GA plywood facility. We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding for residential and light commercial construction, including subflooring, wall and roof sheathing, and concrete formwork.

Plywood is a strong, versatile product made by gluing together thin layers (veneers) of wood with the grain of each layer running in opposite directions. This cross‑graining makes it stable, durable, and resistant to warping.

Salary: $32 – $38 per hour, depending on experience and knowledge level.

• Problem‑solve, troubleshoot, install, repair and maintain facility electrical distribution and manufacturing process equipment.
• Understand, troubleshoot and modify programmable logic control (PLC) and distributed control systems (DCS).
• Provide feedback on equipment conditions, potential failure risks, corrections and additions on job plans.
• Install new conduit and wiring.
• Modify existing conduit and wiring.
• Provide your own metric and standard tools (socket and wrench sets, Allen T‑handles).
• Work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment.
• Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel‑toed boots and other PPE as required).
• Work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work at heights of up to 100 feet.

• At least one year of experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
• At least one year of experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
• At least one year of experience in industrial electrical repair, process controls, and/or instrumentation.

• Two or more years of experience with single and three‑phase electrical repair and/or troubleshooting up to 480 volts, reading electrical and maintenance schematics/blueprints, measuring, cutting, and bending conduit, and troubleshooting hydraulic equipment, circuits and components.
• Two or more years of experience with Rockwell Automation software (Control Logix, FT View, RSlogix, FT Linx).
• Associate’s degree or higher in Industrial Electricity, Instrumentation, Electrical & Control Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
• Military or apprenticeship experience in PLCs, voltage, wiring schematics, etc.
• College coursework in Principles of Technology, Electrical Control Systems or Control Theory.
