Job PurposeThis position requires a high level of technical expertise in industrial electrical systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal operation of plant equipment and electrical systems in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
Duties & Responsibilities- Maintain a good working relationship with operating personnel to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
- Analytically troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions back to OEM specifications.
- Routinely check the performance of electrical equipment.
- The employee is responsible for maintaining maintenance records, inspection reports, and processing work orders.
- Ensure a clean and safe work area. Must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
- Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job safety analysis (JSAs).
- Attend and participate in line‑out meetings to communicate daily activities between incoming and outgoing maintenance shift crews.
- Make necessary equipment repairs during the shift to maintain equipment availability for production.
- Participate in production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers as it pertains to equipment reliability and availability.
- Perform required daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual check sheets as established by the maintenance department and OEM suppliers.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical equipment including motors, drives, PLCs, control panels, and sensors.
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Diagnose electrical issues using advanced testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, megohmmeters, thermal imaging).
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve equipment performance.
- Education:
High school diploma/GED preferred but not required. An electrical certification or technical degree is preferred. - Years of
Experience:
4–6 years of experience preferred. Working in an industrial electrical environment and 2 years of experience with induction electrical equipment. - Job Knowledge:
Required knowledge of industrial welding and annealing operations. Minimum 2 years of experience in high‑frequency induction welding. Thermatool or EFD. - Install, test, and commission induction heating equipment and control systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues in induction machinery.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment as an electrical technician.
- Proficient with 480 V 3‑phase systems, VFDs, PLCs (Allen‑Bradley preferred), and industrial automation systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Allen‑Bradley Control Logix, Compact Logix, and Micro Logix series.
- Employees must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require overtime when needed.
- Experience with PLC programming and HMI systems (Allen‑Bradley).
- Read, write & speak English clearly and effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Welding or mechanical maintenance skills a plus.
- Strong understanding of power electronics, control systems, and high‑frequency AC power.
- Safety:
Understands all applicable plant safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
- Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
- Ability to lift 25–50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
- Ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
- Ability to see 20/20 when corrected.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- This position has the authority to stop an operation if deemed necessary, for reasons of imminent safety and/or possible equipment damage. However, the employee must notify the operations supervisor on duty and follow the established notification procedure if the interruption is for an extended time period.
