Position: Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic - Title 32
Location: Robins Air Force Base

Position Overview

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is for a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, Position Description Number D2431000 located at the 116th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Robins AFB, Georgia. This is a full‑time, excepted temporary indefinite not to exceed two years, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration:
Members of the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve or an Air Force Active Duty component.

Responsibilities and Experience Requirements
  • Candidate must possess experience or training that has provided the skill to make repairs or the ability to assist with repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts.
  • Candidate must possess at least 18 months experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems; experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment; experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems; experience in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on heavy mobile vehicles, equipment and systems.
  • Physically, heavy mobile equipment mechanics work in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. The work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching, often while lifting and carrying items up to 40 pounds, and pushing, pulling or positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. They may work from ladders or platforms at varying heights, and may use jacks, hoists, or cranes.

Effort and Working Conditions

Heavy mobile equipment mechanics work both inside and outside. Inside: exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise. Outside: may be required to work in bad weather. Workers are exposed to dust, grease, heat, fumes, cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock and injury from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Employees follow prescribed safety practices and may need to wear safety equipment and clothing for long periods.

  • Military Grades: A1C – SSgt (compatible military assignments).
