Under the supervision of the Assistant Supervisor. Gunsmith I can modify, repair and service foreign and domestic firearms, weapons, and accessories.

• Perform detailed assembly and disassembly of foreign and domestic small arms weapons including small arms inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Performs tool and capital equipment maintenance, weapons cleaning, and organizational level weapons maintenance.
• Modify, repair and service foreign and domestic firearms, weapons, and accessories.
• Possesses knowledge of the tools (i.e. hammers, punches, files, stones, etc.) and gauges needed to perform assigned duties, has limited knowledge in the operation of gun-smiting machinery such as, surface grinders, etc., as well as limited knowledge of toolingused with those machines.
• Has knowledge of basic shop safety procedures needed to work in a small arms environment, performs support functions for the shop, to include preparing metal parts for refinishing.
• Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Requires knowledge in the use of hand tools, machine tools, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties, has the knowledge and skill to work on small arms.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a CAC.
