The 24/7 in‑house call center provides scheduled maintenance and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime.

Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.

DUTIES
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm proper operation.
  • Identify problems and determine the accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work‑related activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (“RO”) using a company‑issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage one's own daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for the repairs performed.
  • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings and notes.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field; alternatively, a higher degree or certification or 5 years’ experience is acceptable.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Must successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • A current and valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If the card has 4 months or less validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
