Duties
Serving as a Automotive Worker (Helper) WG-5823-5 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Mobile Assets Branch/Garage, Asset and Logistics Management Division, under the Mission and Readiness Support Directorate.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance, operation, utilization, and the disposal of the fleet of government owned automotive, marine, and other mobile equipment assets. These assets are used to support administrative, training, security, and maintenance activities necessary for the performance of the training mission.
Typical Duties Include- Performing work requiring light to moderate physical effort and the use of common hand and power tools as well as other automotive and marine maintenance shop equipment and systems
- Accomplishing minor maintenance services to include check, adjust and changing crankcase, differential, and transmission lubricants; check and adjust fluid levels in brakes, batteries, radiators, and power steering reservoirs
- Testing, replacing or servicing batteries; replacing oil, fuel, and air filters; installing or replacing accessories; replacing or adjusting drive belts; locating leaks and tightening fasteners to manufacture's specifications; replacing and tightening hose connections; replacing windshield wiper blades, lights bulbs and fuses
- Inspecting tire conditions, adjust air pressure as well as rotating, mounting, dismounting, repairing, and balancing tube and tubeless tires using tire mounting and balancing machines

- Bargaining Unit:
This is a bargaining unit covered position, represented under the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU). - You will need to set up direct deposit so we can pay you.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Universal United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for handling of refrigerants within 180 days of employment.
- Must be able to obtain certification to operate a forklift and meet the physical fitness requirements to do so safely.
- This position is Emergency Essential and required to sustain FLETC’s operations under all conditions.
- Must be able to meet job-related medical and/or fitness standards. You will be subject to a pre-appointment and annual physical examination.
- Overtime may be required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to conduct official government business.
