AFC Lightning seeks a part time Assistant Boys Academy Director of Coaching to lead and direct coaching staff for all of our U9 through U12 boys' teams. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Boys Academy Director to implement and reinforce our Academy philosophy in training and on game day. The Assistant Academy Director will be in charge of 2 age groups and be responsible for creating training plans, selecting weekend rosters, and selecting tournaments for these age groups to participate in.
The teams within each age group train 3 times a week and typically have 1-2 games per weekend, including a few tournament weekends in both the fall and spring seasons.
- Lead Coach of 2 age groups (U9, U10, U11, or U12) as determined by the Boys Academy Director.
- Ability to structure and run cohesive sessions that center around a purpose or theme, and using effective coaching strategies to convey the intended purpose to the players.
- Effectively communicate with players and families within each age, in conjunction with the Boys Academy Director, of all pertinent club information.
- Monitoring development of players within their age groups and place them in proper teams every week to ensure they are being given the appropriate amount of challenge.
- Answer director to the Boys Academy Director and assist with any club programs related to the Boys Academy.
- The candidate is expected to create a positive and inclusive team environment while upholding the club’s ethical standards and fostering player growth both on and off the field.
- Strong knowledge of soccer coaching principles and practices and ability to demonstrate soccer skills.
- Excellent communication skills to organize coaches, players, and parents within their age groups.
- USSF "D" License or higher and has 1+ Years experience working with youth athletes in a club environment.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the soccer calendar.
- Candidates must pass a background check and pass Safe Sport certification before being able to coach.
