Loco Operator​/Floater

Columbus Quarry, LLC seeking an experienced Loco Operator with heavy equipment operation experience. This position is responsible for handling train and rail movements to manage on-site shipping.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Safely operate locomotives and switch vehicles between tracks within the quarry's rail yard to support operations
• Position railcars for loading and unloading aggregate materials,coordinating with crusher or load operators
• Conduct pre-start and post-shift safety checks on locomotives,brakes, and railcars
• Respond appropriately to wayside signals, cab signals, and verbalor visual cues from ground personnel
• Perform basic troubleshooting, clean and lubricate equipment, andapply sand/water/fuel as needed
• Enforce mine safety standards (i.e. MSHA) and log daily reports regarding freight movement and any maintenance issues
• Operate heavy equipment in mining operations to include dozers,excavators, loaders, haul trucks, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications

• Prior experience operating locomotives, rail yard switching, orrail freight operations preferred
• Experience in an aggregates or quarry environment is a strong plus
• Ability to perform inspection, basic maintenance and safety checkson locomotives and rail yard equipment
• Strong communication skills, including radio/hand signal proficiency and ability to coordinate with others
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment;climbing on/off equipment, working outside in varying weather conditions, standing for long periods and moving about heavy equipment and rail operations
• Working knowledge of safety regulations applicable to quarry operations - i.e., MSHA
• Flexibility to work required shift schedule, overtime, occasional weekends or unscheduled assignments as quarry rail operations demand
• Must adhere to all safety protocols and use of required personal protective equipment
• Experience in operating mining heavy equipment to include dozers,excavators, loaders, haul trucks, etc.
