Job Overview
Incident Response Technician – Operate an emergency response vehicle to provide roadside assistance, manage accidents, tag vehicles, remove debris, and support traffic control on I‑66 Express Lanes. Coordinate team tasks and respond to incidents as directed by the I‑66 Traffic Management Center.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to emergency incidents on I‑66 and provide roadside assistance (tire change, fuel/water provision).
- Operate IRTMA (Incident Response Truck Mounted Attenuator) and perform minor equipment repairs.
- Assist maintenance personnel with traffic control and other duties as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct traffic control, pavement repair, vehicle removal, and debris cleanup.
- Be available for on‑call emergency response and perform miscellaneous maintenance on the express lanes and associated buildings.
- Adapt quickly to changes during events and perform any other assigned duties.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL not required but potential to obtain one is required.
- 3‑5 years of experience in traffic control/management.
- National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training and Advanced First Aid.
- Basic automotive mechanics knowledge.
- Proven leadership experience and ability to manage a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to learn other PC‑based software.
- Self‑motivated, able to motivate others, strong communication skills, and multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to work alternate work schedules, including weekends and night shifts, and to work off hours on a regularly scheduled basis.
Work involves operating heavy machinery in traffic conditions. The noise level may be moderate to high. Requires standing, walking, climbing, driving, and sitting for long periods. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work in elevated positions and various weather conditions.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $60,320 – $64,480 per year (dependent on experience, skills, certifications, and qualifications). Eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and supplemental benefits. Certain positions may also be eligible for an annual bonus. The role is eligible for upfront recognition of fair and equitable compensation practices.
