THE ROLE
As part of the Americas team, SANY is seeking a driven, forward-thinking, and highly motivated Transportation & Insurance Manager, for managing and optimizing SANY America's enterprise domestic and international transportation operations, carrier and logistics supplier relationships, freight procurement activities, transportation contracts, import/export logistics, freight claims, and cargo insurance recovery processes.
In addition to supporting the transportation operations of the assigned business unit, this position provides cross-functional leadership and governance for enterprise freight activities across multiple business units. The role partners with transportation, procurement, logistics, operations, and finance teams throughout the organization to develop standardized transportation strategies, carrier selection criteria, performance management processes, contract governance, freight claims administration, and transportation best practices.
This position serves as the company's primary transportation and insurance subject matter expert and is responsible for coordinating corporate transportation risk management, insurance administration, and enterprise freight governance.
The role partners with Legal Affairs, Finance, and business unit leadership to reduce operational risk, improve transportation performance, and maximize insurance recovery.
This position serves as both a strategic transportation leader and hands-on logistics resource, responsible for developing transportation strategies while actively managing day-to-day transportation execution, carrier performance, freight costs, shipment issues, and claims resolution.
The role partners closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Sales, Finance, Legal, Risk Management, Insurance providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, and customers to ensure reliable transportation performance, regulatory compliance, cost control, and mitigation of transportation-related risks.
The position also provides functional leadership to transportation personnel across multiple business units by establishing common carrier management standards, transportation policies, performance metrics, and enterprise freight governance.
With current revenues over $500 million, SANY America continues to make strong progress and significant investments in the Americas market; the organization is now pursuing an aggressive growth strategy and is looking to move quickly beyond this initial platform and increase market share.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Transportation Operations Management- Provide transportation leadership and support across multiple business units to ensure consistent transportation processes and best practices.
- Coordinate transportation strategies across business units to maximize carrier utilization, purchasing leverage, and transportation efficiencies.
- Support business units during transportation disruptions, capacity shortages, and emergency logistics events.
- Develop enterprise transportation standards and operating procedures.
- Manage daily domestic and international transportation activities including truckload, LTL, ocean, air, rail, parcel, and specialized freight movements.
- Ensure timely shipment execution from supplier pickup through final delivery.
- Develop transportation plans that support business requirements, customer commitments, and operational objectives.
- Resolve transportation disruptions including delays, capacity constraints, damages, and service failures.
- Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, reliability, and cost performance.
- Support logistics planning for new products, suppliers, customers, and market expansion.
- Lead enterprise carrier selection, qualification, onboarding, and performance management across multiple business units.
- Develop standardized carrier evaluation criteria used throughout the organization.
- Coordinate annual carrier business reviews with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with strategic transportation providers.
- Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, 3PL providers, and other logistics partners.
- Develop and maintain carrier qualification requirements including:
- Insurance compliance
- Safety performance
- Service capability
- Financial stability
- Regulatory compliance
- Create and maintain carrier scorecards and performance reviews.
- Monitor carrier performance and implement corrective action plans.
- Conduct periodic carrier business reviews.
- Build strategic transportation partnerships while maintaining competitive market conditions.
- Develop enterprise transportation sourcing strategies across all business units.
- Support transportation sourcing events for multiple operating divisions.
Establish standardized transportation contract templates and commercial terms.
