Description Position Summary

Ulm Automotive, LLC is seeking an experienced and organized Fleet and Logistics Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, compliance, and overall performance of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment, along with the planning and coordination of inbound and outbound shipments. This position is responsible for ensuring fleet assets are safe, reliable, cost-effective, and available to support business operations, and that vehicles, equipment, and materials move on schedule and at the best possible cost.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong mechanical knowledge, vendor and carrier management experience, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the company fleet, including trucks, vans, trailers, and support equipment.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules to maximize vehicle uptime.
  • Coordinate repairs, inspections, warranty work, and emergency roadside assistance.
  • Monitor fleet condition and recommend vehicle replacement or disposal when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, registration, title, warranty, and licensing records.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
  • Manage relationships with repair facilities, vendors, dealerships, and equipment suppliers.
  • Review repair estimates and invoices for accuracy and cost effectiveness.
  • Monitor fleet operating costs and prepare budgets related to maintenance and repairs.
  • Track fuel usage, maintenance trends, and vehicle utilization to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate vehicle assignments and ensure assets are available to meet operational needs.
  • Investigate vehicle accidents and coordinate repairs and insurance claims.
  • Ensure vehicles remain clean, properly equipped, and ready for service.
  • Supervise fleet technicians or coordinate work performed by outside service providers.
  • Develop fleet policies and procedures to improve safety, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Assist with purchasing new vehicles, equipment, and fleet-related supplies.
  • Generate reports on fleet performance, maintenance costs, downtime, and compliance metrics.
  • Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including vehicle deliveries, equipment transfers, and freight shipments.
  • Select carriers, negotiate freight rates, and schedule shipments to meet delivery commitments.
  • Track shipments and maintain shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading and delivery confirmations.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with sales, operations, and customers, and resolve delays or routing issues.
  • Manage IRP apportioned registrations and IFTA fuel tax reporting for interstate operations.
  • Dispatch drivers and plan routes to reduce transit time and transportation costs.
Requirements Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required;
    Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of fleet management, logistics, transportation, automotive, or heavy equipment experience.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, DOT/MC/IRP and IFTA regulations, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience managing vendors and maintenance contracts.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of logistics operations, including carrier management, freight scheduling, and shipping documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE certifications or equivalent automotive certifications.
  • Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets.
  • Knowledge of GPS tracking systems, telematics, and maintenance software.
  • Experience with dispatch, routing, or transportation management systems (TMS).
  • CDL Class A, is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to inspect vehicles and equipment in various weather conditions.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb as necessary.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles and equipment.
