Overview

The Project Coordinator supports activities addressing specific issues such as substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health among pregnant and postpartum women and their affected newborns. Through a cooperative agreement, CDC funds statewide Perinatal Quality Collaboratives (PQCs) to improve pregnancy outcomes through implementing continuous quality improvement (QI) initiatives in maternal/infant care across the state or region. CDC also funds the coordinating center for the National Network of PQCs (NNPQC).

Supplemental funding to the cooperative agreement was awarded to expand work of PQCs on specific topics, such as SUD and associated mental health issues among pregnant and postpartum women and their affected newborns. The project coordinator will facilitate engagement with other funded partners including the NNPQC. Project activities include the expansion of PQC initiatives to address SUD and associated mental health issues among pregnant women.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with CDC’s Perinatal Health and Chronic Disease Team staff to support the supplemental activities of the PQCs/NNPQC and coordination of dissemination activities, including webinars and partner meetings.

The Project Coordinator will be hired by the CDC Foundation and will be organizationally located with the Perinatal Health and Chronic Disease Team in CDC’s Maternal and Infant Health Branch of the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP). This is an outstanding opportunity to work with the nation’s lead agency charged with protecting the public's health.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to awardees on project planning and implementation
  • Plan and manage learning activities for clinicians, public health practitioners, and perinatal quality collaboratives, including webinars and conference calls
  • Coordinate related supplemental activities between partner organizations and perinatal quality collaboratives
  • Prepare reports on performance monitoring, program evaluation, and lessons learned, in collaboration with CDC Staff
  • Lead project-related meetings and calls
  • Ensure strong adherence to project timelines
  • Assist with preparing reports, manuscripts, abstracts, poster and/or presentations, and the submission of these products to CDC clearance
  • Collaborate with internal and external scientists and researchers to disseminate findings through publications and presentations
  • Participate in special projects or other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Necessary Skills
  • A Master’s degree in public health or related field is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of public health and related professional experience required (experience in social work, counseling, substance use disorder, or mental health treatment preferred).
  • Experience in perinatal and infant health or maternal and child health
  • Experience coordinating projects with multiple partners
  • Experience engaging and managing subcontractors
  • Experience with logistical planning and management, including meeting facilitation and conflict management skills
  • Highly detail oriented, works well within a diverse team as well as independently
  • Demonstrates a high degree of initiative and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities, able to communicate effectively in a positive and professional manner, able to prioritize activities when under tight deadlines.
