The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality and comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.

• Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
• Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect the operations.
• Ensure the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner.
• Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals.
• Comply with terms outlined in the site's operating agreement with the client.
• Implement and report on-going cost savings measures.
• Provide ideas and suggestions for more efficient operations.
• Meet all client specified KPIs and comply with Quality system requirements.
• Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to fairly and equitably supervise, counsel and discipline team members.
• Provide direction and support to Human Resources.
• Assist in creating programs for hiring, training and professional development.
• Participate in performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and other HR activities.
• Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.
• Plan the daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices and instructions from customers.
• Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources, assign duties to appropriate staff.
• Review pending jobs or trends, plan reorganization of warehouse space and needed changes in levels of supplies, equipment or staffing.
• Train new staff in assigned duties or delegate training responsibility.
• Assess progress of trainees and add additional duties as appropriate.
• Keep informed of quantity and quality of jobs being performed and provide guidance and advice as necessary.
• Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower-level staff.
• Keep management advised of progress or problems requiring attention daily.
• Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess group status and discuss improvement ideas.
• Assist in physical operations as needed.
• Deliver results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
• Maintain high motivation in team members to focus on highest levels of customer satisfaction.
• Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
• Provide input and conduct annual performance reviews for team members.
• Support adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Support and train team members in adherence to SOPs.

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• 3 years of experience working in a logistics, distribution or related environment.
• 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
• Preferred:
  Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with RF scanners and WMS functions.
• English language proficiency (reading, writing, verbal).
• Business communication skills.
• Basic to intermediate mathematical skills to verify quantities of product, count inventory or perform associated duties.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate, and timely job completion.
• Good organizational, personnel, communication, leadership, supervision and planning skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required.
• Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures ranging from mild to moderate.
