Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:

* Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Head Start, and Child Development Center.

Head Start Health Assistant

Seasonal Part-Time 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday through Friday

Areas of Responsibility:
Assist in supporting the implementation of the Head Start Performance Standards by ensuring children receive comprehensive health and dental services. Enter and maintain data to track health, dental and mental health requirements and continuous care of enrolled children.

Major Duties:

* Maintain accurate, confidential health records for all children in the Child Plus database.

* Monitor and track the 30-day, 45-day and 90-day health requirements, including physical, dental, immunization, and lead/hemoglobin screenings to determine if each child has an ongoing source of continuous accessible health care, assist families who do not have this.

* Coordinate or conduct onsite screening for vision and hearing with the required timeframe.

* Assist in measuring and recording heights and weights twice annually to monitor Growth Assessment data.

* Assist in the review of Individualized Health Plans (IHP) for children with special health needs.

* Partner with parents to ensure every child has a "Medical Home" and a "Dental Home."

* Assist in providing resources and education to families regarding chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, or diabetes).

* Assist families in navigating Medicaid or private insurance to obtain necessary follow-up treatments.

* Audit files regularly to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

* Ensure classrooms maintain First Aid kits and follow hygiene/sanitization protocols.
