JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Gering is seeking a motivated Lineman Electric Apprentice to join our Electric Department. This entry-level position provides hands‑on training in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s electrical distribution system under the guidance of experienced journeymen. The role offers a long‑term career path in municipal electric utilities through ongoing training, skill development, and advancement toward Journeyman Lineman status.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist with power line work
- Operate equipment used in electrical distribution
- Maintain electrical systems to ensure reliable service to the community
- Safety‑focused and eager to learn
- Physically able to perform demanding work in all weather conditions
- Prior electrical or related trade experience preferred
- Completion of basic electrical coursework preferred
