Job SummaryThe Staff Accountant is expected to support the accounting manager in all aspects of the accounts payable and payroll functions and will also assist in month‑end closing, including processing credit card transactions and reconciling payroll liability accounts. The ideal candidate is ready to utilize their expertise to develop and maintain compliant and efficient processes.
Responsibilities- Review invoices for proper documentation, approval and coding prior to processing and payment;
- Prepare weekly payment file to finance management for review and approval;
- Prepare accruals, journal entries and reconciliations monthly related to AP and payroll accounts;
- Manage expense reimbursements and compliance with T&E policy and Sunshine Act;
- Follow federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions;
- Manage the accounts payable mailbox and vendor communication;
- Assist in developing monthly financial metrics for accounts payable;
- Assist in semi‑monthly payroll processing and related journal entry postings;
- Assist with year‑end reporting of 1099s, W-2s, and Sunshine Act;
- Support commission calculations and healthcare provider payments for sales reps and HCP contractors;
- Adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 0-3 years of accounting experience
- Demonstrate proficiency in full‑cycle Accounts Payable operations
- Experience with annual 1099 reporting
- Experience with SAP Concur or similar expense management platform
- Expertise with multi‑location payroll and have working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
- Knowledgeable about federal and state wage and hour labor laws
- Experience managing payroll for a large sales department and related commission and T&E policies
- Proven ability of timely and accurate transaction processing
- Experience maintaining highly effective record‑keeping for accounts payable and payroll related data
- Proficient with Excel and analytical tools
