The Director of Medical Records is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating all operations within the Medical Records Department. This role involves supervising secretarial and clinical staff to ensure accurate maintenance of medical records in compliance with HIPAA, Medical Assistance, Joint Commission, Maryland Department of Health, and RICA-Baltimore standards. Additionally, this position collaborates with supervisors and department chairpersons to organize documentation and schedules that meet Joint Commission, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and internal procedural requirements.
Key responsibilities include establishing departmental deadlines and assigning work procedures to staff to ensure consistent regulatory compliance.
Education :
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience :
One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
- Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
The desired candidate should possess the following:
- Experience in managing and maintaining patient health information.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, etc.;
Google Workspace such as Google Docs and Sheets.
Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
