Open Position for AMI Primary Montessori Guide

Butler Montessori is happy to announce an open position for an AMI Trained Primary Montessori Guide, with a start date of August 2026. We would consider an earlier start date if the ideal candidate would like to begin their journey with us prior to the  school year.

Our school, located on a beautiful 22-acre campus adjacent to Seneca Creek State Park, in Darnestown, MD, offers plenty of indoor and outdoor learning space, and our community has a strong environmental ethos. The serene campus offers a pond, wooded trails, and an equestrian program.

Butler Montessori is a community of parents and educators coming together to raise children who develop the skills and confidence to navigate complex relationships. As a community, we proudly carry forward our 50+-year history of Montessori prepared environments through High School, providing a full AMI Montessori foundation, with strong enrollment and finances.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with teachers and staff to facilitate a cohesive environment where children learn and develop at their own pace. This candidate will have a Primary AMI Diploma and possess strong communication and technology skills, coupled with a warm and cooperative character.

Qualifications and Expectations

• Undergraduate Degree.
• AMI Primary Certification.
• Knowledgeable about Montessori philosophy and materials.
• Prior experience within a Montessori Environment
• Specific requirements set by minimum state standards and/or accreditation
• Facilitate classroom activities.
• Create engaging, age-appropriate lessons while holding true to the Montessori Model.
• Establish classroom management utilizing positive coaching.
• Encourage and assist in positive social interactions.
• Ensure safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Must be warm, loving, and able to work well with all types of people
