Overview
Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Works with interdisciplinary teams to foster a school culture that supports the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for every student. Supervises middle school students in a variety of school-related settings. Communicates and collaborates with middle school students, staff, parents, and the community.
Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all middle school students. Maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures and practices, and uses data analysis to monitor student achievement. Monitors the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical Demands:

Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

- Knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, and MCPS curriculum and policies.
- Commitment to the belief that all students can learn with high content and high expectations.
- Ability to use varied instructional and behavioral management strategies suitable for middle school adolescents; integrate reading, writing, math, and technology across content areas.
- Ability to self-reflect on instructional practices and personal interactions for continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and the community with organizational agility.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Commitment to serving as an advocate, role model, and supporter of diversity across race, ethnicity, gender, developmental differences, learning styles, and exceptionalities.
- Knowledge and application of MCPS TP GS/SSPGS standards.
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learners.
- Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
