K-5. Salary range: $64,591–$131,472 based on education and experience.
Benefits information:
Under the direction of the principal, plans and administers the school library media program. Works with teachers to plan and provide information literacy instruction integrated into content areas, provides training on instructional technology to staff, and manages library media center material, facilities, and equipment. Communicates the library media program vision and mission to administrators, staff, students, parents, and community.

Special RequirementsRequired to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional day per MCEA agreement.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Thorough knowledge of MCPS Policies and Procedures for school library media programs and MCPS Administrative Regulation ITA-RA.
- Knowledge of effective instructional practices and understanding of the teaching and learning process.
- Knowledge of current instructional and research technologies and the ability to integrate them into the library media program and curriculum.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, staff, students, and community.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in school library media and coursework in curriculum and special education.
- Completion of a practicum or two years of successful teaching or two years of successful media‑related experience.
- Certificate License:
Meets Maryland state certification requirements for School Library Media Specialist.
