Position: Part-Time Faculty English Language for Academic Purposes (ELAP) Instructor

Montgomery College is accepting applications for Part‑time Faculty in the English Language for Academic Purposes (ELAP) program across Rockville, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, and Germantown campuses.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses in the ELAP program in face‑to‑face and/or remote (synchronous) formats.
  • Teach a varied schedule of classes that may include morning, afternoon, accelerated, and weekend sections.
  • Stay abreast of discipline‑sponsored events, curriculum changes, and other factors to keep students informed and engaged.
  • Engage students through active and collaborative learning approaches.
  • Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogies into the teaching and learning process.
  • Hold office hours and attend course group, norming, and/or department meetings when necessary.
  • Adhere to all college, department, and course policies, including grade submission and exam administration procedures and communication with students and staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, or a related field with 15 graduate credits in TESOL.
  • Ability to integrate technology and classroom‑related computer software and portals, including Blackboard, for course delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and willingness to contribute to the college’s strategic plan for inclusion.
  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching distance learning and/or remote (virtual) classes.
  • Experience teaching academic English as a second language in a post‑secondary setting.
  • For degrees earned outside the U.S., a copy of education equivalency conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service must be included in the application.
  • Resident of Maryland or a state with payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
