FYParaeducator Level II, Special Education Itinerant, Germantown ES​/Ad Close

Job Title:

Para educator Level II, Special Education Itinerant (Germantown Elementary School) – 4 hrs/day, 10 months (Ad closes 7/15/26).

Wage range: $25.40 to $38.15 per hour based on years of service.

At the direction of the principal, this para educator promotes student learning and well‑being for first‑grade special education students. Duties include supporting students with Individualized Education Programs, facilitating mastery of grade‑level curriculum or Alternate Academic Achievement Standards, managing behaviors, and providing instructional and classroom management support. The role may involve off‑school learning activities, assistance with academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical needs, and clerical tasks for teachers and staff.

• Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and school policies.
• Ability to assist with the instructional program and monitor student behavior.
• Patience and effective interpersonal skills with children, young adults, and staff.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and to communicate effectively.
• Proficiency with English, standard computer hardware and software (Google Workspace, MS Office, web‑based tools).
• Ability to learn and meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System.

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Coursework should include at least nine credit‑hours in education fields such as behavior management or instructional strategies.
• Preferred: one year of experience working with students in structured educational settings.
• Alternate paths include: 48 college credits with two years of experience in a structured setting; two years of experience in a structured setting with successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment (score 455+); or equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience.

• Frequent bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• May require outside duty, flexible scheduling, and change of location.
• Emphasis on maintaining planned instructional activities during the teacher’s temporary absence.

Grade: 15 (potential promotion to 16 after probation). Part‑time (0.500 FA, 40 hours bi‑weekly) for 10 working months. Day shift.
